Note From The Artist:  I was inspired to make “Desirae” from the book “Precious Dolls” where I first saw this gorgeous antique doll.  

As soon as I saw her I wanted to make a copy of this lovely doll for myself! Over the years of my career in doll making, I have made 2 of these dolls, each similar but also very different from each other.  This is my 3rd and very last one and actually my very favorite.  I designed the dress myself, all the laces are sewn in and cut out & the dress is fully lined in silk, I hate to part with her! My doll making time is coming to an end, since the death of my husband I have moved to a smaller home and no longer have my molds and other doll making equipment. I still have some compo bodies, heads, wigs etc. to make a few more dolls,  but that will be it.  What dolls I am able to make now are more of a beloved hobby.  

 Desirae has the following features:
1. Beautifully hand painted head poured in white porcelain.

2. A jointed French composition body.

3. Blue solid glass British paperweight eyes.

  4. Gorgeous, honey blond English mohair wig, custom made by wig artist Wendy Feidt. 

About the costume: Madeline dress is made of hand dyed metallic crinkled silk organza in a silvery grape color which overlays a skirt made of a dark grape color silk taffeta fabric.  The entire dress is completely lined in silk taffeta with all seams totally hidden.  A delicate cotton lace fabric covers the bodice of this dress and the upper sleeves.  A grape colored silk ribbon sash runs from her left shoulder to her waist and ends in a silk ribbon rosette at her waist.  Lovely hand made silk ribbon flowers decorate the mid section of the bodice on her dress.  A brass Be'be' pin decorates the neckline of the bodice.  Madeline's bonnet is made of the same fabric and lace as the dress and decorated with hand made ribbon flowers, velvet vintage millinery buds, silk ribbons and ostrich feathers. 

6.  Madeline's undergarments include a half slip and pantaloons made from a silk and cotton batise fabric and decorated with lace, silk ribbon and embroidery flowers. She also is wearing a silk corset and bustle pad. 

7.   Madeline wears a pair of Bru replica shoes.  The shoes are made of black leather,  glove soft, trimmed in silk with antique rhinestone buckles.  The shoes have leather soles with heels and are stamped "Bru".  These shoes were custom made for this doll and come in a shoe box specially hand made and designed by artist Fran Quinn.  

 8.  This doll has hand made crochet stockings.

9. Her other accessories include a glass amethyst bead necklace with magnetic clasp, vintage glass & rhinestone amethyst earrings, a vintage brass Be'Be' pin and a beaded purse.

10. She comes with a tapestry covered stand and is hand signed by the artist.
